Getting started

How the app works

Tap New tone and choose a file, a video's sound or a recording. Pick Ringtone, Text tone or Alarm, drag the handles on the waveform and save. On the tone's page, tap Add to your iPhone, then Use as Ringtone. The sound then appears in every tone list on your iPhone.

Ringtone & Text Tone Maker is coming soon to the App Store.

Setting your tones

Set it as your ringtone or text tone

  1. Add the tone to your iPhone from its page in the app: tap Add to your iPhone, then Use as Ringtone.
  2. Open the Settings app and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Tap Ringtone or Text Tone, then choose your tone near the top of the list.

New Mail, Calendar Alerts and Reminder Alerts work the same way. For more detail, see how to set a custom text tone.

If the tone isn't in the list

  • Add it again from the tone's page and make sure you tap Use as Ringtone in the share sheet.
  • If iOS says the file is too large, the tone is 30 seconds or longer. Open it in the editor, shorten it and save again.

A sound for one person

This is part of Pro. On the tone's page, tap A person, pick the contact, then tap Edit, then Ringtone or Text Tone, and choose your tone. See how to give a contact their own ringtone.

Alarms

Alarms with your sounds are part of Pro. In the Alarms tab, tap Add alarm, set the time, the repeat days and a label, and choose one of your tones. Alarms ring even when your iPhone is in silent mode or a Focus.

If an alarm doesn't ring, go to Settings > Apps > Tone Maker and make sure Alarms is turned on.

Purchases

Free and Pro

Making, trimming, fading and adding basic tones is free and unlimited. Pro adds volume boost, speed, pitch, looping, presets, a sound for each person and alarms with your sounds. You can hear every Pro effect before you buy.

  • Pro monthly: $4.99 a month, renews automatically unless canceled
  • Pro lifetime: $14.99 once, never expires

Restore a purchase

On a new iPhone, or after reinstalling the app, open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy Pro.

Manage or cancel the subscription

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  • Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions
  • Choose Ringtone & Text Tone Maker and pick an option
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge

Refunds

Apple processes every purchase. To request a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com (opens in a new tab) and sign in with your Apple Account.

Privacy

Your sounds stay on your iPhone. There is no account, nothing is uploaded and nothing is tracked. The app opens only the contact card you pick and never reads or uploads your contacts. Details are in the privacy policy.
